Day 1

After arriving into Athens International airport (ATH), you will be met by our local guide and transferred back to the hotel. Before dinner, you will attend an initial photo presentation and slideshow by workshop leader, Julia Cumes. The slideshow presentation, “Beyond the Snapshot”, will introduce attendees to a variety of travel photography techniques and approaches and provide inspiration for the upcoming photo tour.  After that, you will head to dinner in a local tavern to get to know your travel mates and discuss the week ahead.

Day 2

After a leisurely morning, you will begin your photographic journey with a historical walking tour of Athens. You will wind your way through Athens’ oldest neighborhoods and explore the historical area around the Acropolis. There will be time for lunch and a rest in the afternoon before heading out again to photograph the Acropolis during “golden hour”.

Day 3

Athens and Ferry to Amorgos

After spending the morning and afternoon in Athens, you will board the ferry to Amorgos Island, known for its traditional villages and ancient ruins. You will land in Chora, the main town of the island and will head straight to the hotel for a good night’s rest.

Day 4

Explore Amorgos

Today you will visit the Chozoviotisa, an 11th-century monastery with a dramatic cliffside location and sweeping views of the Aegean Sea.

You will have lunch in the nearby village of Lagkada. In the afternoon, you will have free time to rest, and to download and edit your images.

Enjoy dinner with your travel mates in the picturesque hamlet of Tholaris.

Day 5

Greek Dancing + Boat Ride

You will spend the afternoon on a private cruise around the island during which you will have the chance to explore some secret beaches and coves! Afterwards, you will have lunch at a seaside restaurant with the group.

In the afternoon, Julia will begin one-on-one critiques sessions to offer individualized feedback and help edit your work for the final slideshow.

You will be free to enjoy dinner on your own.

Day 6

Ferry to Naxos

The ferry will whisk you away to the magical island of Naxos. After settling into the hotel, you will explore Naxos’ medieval “old town” on foot.

For sunset, you will photograph and take in the views of Potara, also known as the “Great Door,” a massive marble doorway (of the temple of Apollo).

You will enjoy dinner with your travel mates at a local taverna back in town.

Day 7

Explore Naxos

You will kick off the day with a sunrise photo shoot, making use of the magical quality of early morning light. After breakfast, you will head to the beach to relax and enjoy the island’s beautiful turquoise waters.

In the late afternoon, you will join an excursion into the mountainous village of Apeiranthos, where you will explore and photograph the village’s ancient architecture, stone towers, old homes and churches, marble-paved alleys and local crafts shops before enjoying a delicious dinner.

Day 8

Ferry to Santorini

Hop on the ferry again and head south to the exquisite, crescent-shaped island of Santorini, known as the “precious gem of the Aegean”.

After settling into the hotel, you will visit a winery and learn how to make local cuisine from a master chef.

In the evening, you will have free time to explore and photograph the picturesque town and cobblestone streets. Julia will finish up the one-on-one critique sessions before dinner.

Day 9

On your final day on this beautiful island, you can choose from variety of fun options:

  • Visit a local village where beer is made

  • Sea kayak in the cerulean waters around the island

  • Sit back and relax!

You will meet up with the group before dinner to watch a final slideshow of your best images from the journey, put together by Julia, before heading out to Fira (Santorini’s capital) for a last celebratory dinner in the islands.

Day 10

Back to Athens

After breakfast, you will hop the high speed ferry back to Athens (approximately 5 hours). Depending on the ferry schedule, you will get back in Athens on time to enjoy a last night with the group!

Day 11

Make your way to the airport for your flight home. The trip has come to an end, but you will have plenty of beautiful snapshots and memories to look back on!
