Itinerary

Day 1

Arrival to Reykjavik

You will be picked up at Reykjavik airport and transferred to Hotel Borg, in downtown Reykjavik. Depending on what time you land, you can take the day to explore the city, rest, or relax. You have the option to join a two-hour boat tour that will take you to see whales and puffins. If you’re lucky, you will spot orcas, minke whales, humpback whales or dolphins!

You will be provided with an exclusive curated list of our favourite sights, bites, cocktails and shops to help guide your discovery of the hip and fashionable Icelandic capital.

Day 2

Golden Circle: Secret Lagoon, Friðheimar Tomato Farm, Gullfoss, Geysir, Þingvellir National Park

We will get an early start after breakfast. We will leave Reykjavik and head straight to the Þingvellir National Park, which holds historical and geological significance as being the first known parliament in the world. It is also a place of stunning beauty, sitting in the rift valley of the separating North American and Eurasian tectonic plates.

Later, we will enjoy a unique and exclusive lunch inside the tomato greenhouse farm Friðheimar.

After lunch, you will get to witness the force of Gullfoss, one of Iceland’s most powerful waterfalls. From there, it is only a short drive to see the wonders of the geothermal area of Geysir, the original exploding geyser, and its surrounding steam vents.

We will finish the activities of the day at the Secret Lagoon hot pool in the early evening, which is Iceland’s oldest natural swimming pool. You will have time to truly relax, soak in the magic of this wonderful geothermal pool, and reflect on our first few hours in this country of stunning contrasts.

After our soak we will head to our gorgeous design hotel. Tonight, we will enjoy a lovely meal together at the hotel. Make sure to pop your head out from time to time to check if the Northern Lights are glowing yet!

Day 3

South Coast Sights: Seljalandsfoss, Skógafoss, Reynisfjara Black Sand Beach and Fjaðrárgljúfur Gorge Walk

After breakfast, we will start our journey to two of the most celebrated waterfalls in the country, Seljalandsfoss and Skógafoss. We will get up close and personal with the falls – walking behind the falling waters of Seljalandsfoss, and getting close enough to Skógafoss to feel a light spray!

Afterwards, we recommend you take a walk along the stunning black beach of Reynisfjara before we gather for a late Nordic lunch at the quaint Suður-Vík Restaurant in the seaside town of Vík. The restaurant is a favourite of locals and travellers alike – it is set in a old traditional home, perched on a hill overlooking the town, the ocean and the nearby mountains.

After lunch, we will continue our drive further east where we’ll start to see the spectacular glaciers and Iceland’s highest mountains. In the late afternoon, we will take a 45-minute hike along the edge of the Fjaðrárgljúfur.

Tonight, we will be staying in the luxurious and secluded Fosshotel Glacier Lagoon hotel where we will enjoy dinner among the breathtaking surrounding landscape.

Day 4

Glacier Hike Tour, Zodiac Boat Tour and Glacier Lagoon Day

Today, we will have an early start in order to visit Jökulsárlón Glacier Lagoon while the sun comes up and watch the giant icebergs float around and wash up on the black sand shores of Diamond Beach. Here, we will hop on a zodiac boat to better explore this massive lagoon and see the calving face of the glacier. It is often possible to spot seals swimming resting on the icebergs.

From here, we make our way west for a 4-hour hike on Falljökull glacier. We will hike all the way up to the astonishing ice fall of the glacier exploring the glacier textures, features and walk on the bottom of its crevasses. It’s truly a unique experience.

As we make our way back to our hotel, we’ll make sure to stop off at some more incredible sights. After a day of exploring, we will have dinner back at our luxurious hotel.

Day 5

Vatnajökull National Park & Icelandic Lava Show

Before leaving the Vatnajökull National Park, we will take advantage of some of the more accessible spots away from the ice. Svartifoss waterfall is easily walkable past babbling brooks, lush vegetation and wonderful views as you approach this hidden gem, with water pouring through the angular basalt columns. We could not think of a better way to cap off our time in the Icelandic south east.

As we drive back west, we will stop off at the historic Eldhraun lava field, which is now covered in thick moss, where we learn all about the Laki eruption in 1783. In the late afternoon, upon arriving in the picturesque town of Vík, we will see the world’s only indoor lava show (with real re-melted lava).

Day 6

Horse ride, snowmobiling and Viking Turf house

Today begins with a 1-hour horse ride from Skalakot horse farm around the Eyjafjallajökull volcano  This is designed for beginners so don’t worry if this is your first time! You will take in the views at the base of the volcano as you trot amongst the ancient lava fields.
We will have an exclusive lunch in the horse farm before taking a super jeep to the top of the volcano itself, where we will do some snowmobiling. The volcano, despite having erupted merely 10 years ago, has a thick glacier and snow covering the peak, which is perfect snowmobiling terrain.
Later, we will drive to the impressive Viking Turf House restaurant, Ingólfsskáli where we will enjoy a group dinner. Tonight, we will stay in Reykjavik at Hotel Borg.

Day 7

Today, we will embark on our last day of touring to visit the UNESCO Global Geopark of Reykjanes, which has some incredible sights. We will start with a 1-hour tour through Raufarhólshellir, or the Lava Tunnel, which is one of the longest lava tubes in Iceland.  From here we visit the geothermal area, Krýsuvík, with its bubbling mud springs, and continue onto the fishing town of Grindavík and then Gunnuhver, the largest hot spring in Iceland, and the cliffs and lighthouse of Reykjanesviti.

Then, we will make our way to our final stop, the Blue Lagoon.

Tonight, we are staying in the stunning Silica Hotel which, in addition to being very close to the famous Blue Lagoon, also boasts its own lagoon for its guests exclusive use. End the day soaking in the bright blue lagoon as steam rises around you – the best way to wind down and cap off our incredible trip.

Tonight we will have a 3-course farewell dinner at the hotel.

Day 8

Departure Day

Bless Allir! “Bye Everyone” (yes, bless really means bye in Icelandic!)

After breakfast, it will be time to check out and bid farewell to your travel mates. If you have a later flight, you can request late check out and continue enjoying the hotel facilities and the lagoon. A driver will take you to the airport.
